Welcome to Isle Bricks!

I've been wanting to do a bit more with Lego for a long time and hope to use this site as a motivation to build more. I will be trying to post something every week, so we will see how well that goes.

I was trying to come up with a name for the site and stumbled upon Isle Bricks, primarily as it was an available web domain and gmail address. The name is sort of a representation of my childhood of spending time in Hawaii and one of the earliest Lego themes I recall enjoying, pirates!

From there I had a few ideas for a MOC (My Own Creation) that I could use as a logo. I wanted to create an island based on the small pirate island printed baseplate from 1989 which appeared in two sets. It took a bit of digging through the plethora of bricks I own but eventually found the main pieces to use. I played around with a few ways to represent the island, here is a work in progress of using plates for an outline.

Besides the island shape I also wanted to include a palm tree from the initial Pirate Theme. I thought of making the island bigger to represent more detail, including more flora and fauna. In the end I went with a more simplistic build.
