It's Clobberin' Time!
In the early 2010s, the Lego User Group I am in, SEALUG, started doing displays for Emerald City Comic Con and Grit City Comic Show. I was a fan of some of the super hero miniland scale figures that Model Building Secrets (Mariann Asanuma) had made and decided to make some of my own to be shown.
Not wanting to reproduce figures that others had done, I worked on some more obscure super heroes; Tick and Arthur along with Hellboy. The next ones I was working on were for the Fantastic Four. The first was Thing and came together rather quickly. I tried a few basic ideas for the other members but was not happy with the results. I ended up bringing Thing to one of the shows and to my surprise, one of the attendees really wanted it and I ended up selling it to him and never took a photo to post at the time.
A few years ago I re-built Thing while making a few changes using newer released pieces for the SNOT (studs not on top) technique in order to place plates vertically as a way to represent studs as texture for Thing’s rock-like skin.
Since I did not yet make the other members of the Fantastic Four I ended up building a small scene with Thing smashing through a wall.
If you want to create Thing for yourself, I played around with Studio and made building instructions, which are freely available.
